One of the key tools we have implemented is a Carbon Calculator integrated into our freight management systems. This allows both our team and our customers to assess the carbon footprint of individual consignments. By tracking CO₂ emissions on a per-consignment basis, we provide transparent data that empowers clients to make greener choices—such as consolidating freight or selecting lower-emission carriers. This tool also helps us internally identify opportunities for more efficient routing, modal shifts, and fleet improvements. We can also provide reports that measure emissions per state, cost centre or even per receiver.

We believe environmental responsibility must be a shared journey. By promoting awareness of CO₂ emissions and encouraging carbon accountability across the supply chain, we’re not only supporting our clients’ sustainability goals but also helping reduce the transport sector’s contribution to climate change. As technology evolves, we continue to explore innovative ways to further minimise emissions, invest in cleaner transport methods, and contribute to a more sustainable future for Australia’s freight industry.

Cario, in collaboration with Swinburne University of Technology, was honoured as a finalist and received a High Commendation at the 2023 Australian Supply Chain and Logistics Association (ASCLA) Awards in Sydney. The recognition was for the development of the Cario Carbon Calculator, an innovative tool that helps freight businesses measure and reduce CO₂ emissions per consignment.
